Hod's privacy concern is real but the nuance matters: FRS consumer radios share public frequencies - anyone on the same channel can hear. The "privacy codes" don't encrypt, they just filter out traffic using different squelch tones. A neighbor scanning channels can still pick up the conversation. For kids playing spy games this is completely fine, just don't treat them like encrypted comms
