Samsung Galaxy A07s: six years of updates for under $170
Samsung just launched a budget phone that promises software support until roughly 2032 — an unusually long commitment for a handset priced under $170. The Galaxy A07s debuted in Jordan at JOD 119 (around $167) with a 4GB/64GB configuration, per SamMobile. At this price tier, six years of major OS upgrades and security patches is rare; most rivals in the Moto G and Xiaomi Redmi lines offer two or three years at best.
The hardware
The A07s runs on a MediaTek G99+ chip — a lightly boosted variant of the G99, built on a 6nm process. It handles everyday tasks and light gaming without trouble, though don't expect flagship-level headroom. Samsung has kept a microSD slot for storage expansion and a 3.5mm headphone jack, both increasingly uncommon even on budget phones.
The 6.7-inch IPS display runs at HD+ resolution — pixel density is modest for that screen size, but a 90Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling smooth. The fingerprint sensor sits on the power button rather than under the display, which is the practical choice for an IPS panel.
The cameras
The rear camera system pairs a 50MP main sensor with a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots. An 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. This is a documentation-and-daylight setup, not a computational photography showpiece — expectations should be calibrated accordingly.
Six years of updates
The headline feature is software longevity. Samsung promises six major Android OS upgrades and six years of security patches from the global launch date, according to Samsung's official Levant page. The A07s ships with Android 16. That update window puts it on par with Samsung's own Galaxy S-series policy — applied here to a phone that costs a fraction of the price.
The rest of the spec sheet is solid for the category: 5000mAh battery with 25W wired charging, IP54 dust and splash resistance, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB-C.
Availability
There's a catch for US and UK buyers: the Galaxy A07s is not currently listed on Samsung's US or UK stores, and no EMEA launch date has been confirmed. Samsung's budget A-series models sometimes skip certain markets entirely, so wider availability is not guaranteed. If it does land in the US, expect pricing around the $100–130 mark — competitive against the Moto G Power and Redmi 14C, neither of which matches a six-year update pledge.
