LEGO and Sony build a 1:1 replica of the original PlayStation
Sony and LEGO have revealed the first official LEGO PlayStation set — a 1,911-piece build that recreates the original 1994 PS1 console at near 1:1 scale. The finished model measures 26 cm wide, 19 cm deep, and 6 cm tall. It goes on sale October 4, 2026, with early access from October 1 for PlayStation Direct shoppers and LEGO Insiders members.

The build
The set replicates the look of the original grey console down to its functional details. The Power and Open buttons actually click, and the disc tray slides open. A brick-built PlayStation Controller connects to the console, completing the package. Two hidden game dioramas are tucked inside the disc tray: one for Gran Turismo and one for Ape Escape — both franchises that defined the PS1 era. Each diorama can be displayed separately or stored inside the model.
The price and lineup
In the US the set costs $179.99; UK buyers pay £139.99 — roughly 20% less than the US price at current exchange rates. That places it squarely in the middle of LEGO's gaming catalogue, above the NES set (£129.99 at launch) and below the retired Atari 2600 (£199.99). This is the first time Sony has collaborated with LEGO on a hardware replica, per the PlayStation Blog.
The PS1 launched in 1994 in Japan and 1995 in the US and UK, which means this set lands right on the console's 30th-anniversary window — a deliberate hook for millennial collectors. The set is confirmed for sale via PlayStation Direct and LEGO.com, with LEGO Stores carrying it from October 4. Select wider retailers may follow, though none have been announced officially yet, per the LEGO.com official announcement.
