Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have confirmed that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch on March 4, 2027, across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The game hits Game Pass on day one. A free alpha demo is live right now and runs until September 30, 2026 — so you can try it before committing to a pre-order.

The setup

Wings of Ember is the direct sequel to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (2023), Team Ninja's brutally demanding action-RPG set in a fantasy reimagining of ancient China. The new game picks up immediately after Fallen Dynasty's ending, dropping players into the chaos of the Three Kingdoms period. You play a warrior empowered by the Phoenix — the one figure who can push back a demon invasion tearing the country apart.

The studio's pitch for the sequel centers on a deeper, more fluid combat system. Whether that translates in practice is something the alpha is designed to let you judge for yourself.

The demo

The alpha is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Microsoft Store — Switch 2 is not included. It covers the Changban stage with three-player co-op and, per PlayStation Blog (official), a character creator. Team Ninja is calling this a very early build, so rough edges are expected. Finishing the demo unlocks the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet as an in-game reward at launch.

Editions and pricing

Standard edition is priced at $69.99; the Digital Deluxe runs $99.99, per Beebom (pricing). Pre-ordering either version unlocks bonus in-game items at launch. The Deluxe edition bundles the base game with a season pass and extras: a "Creator God" armor set, a digital art book, a mini-soundtrack, and the Shiteshou Hat. A physical disc edition is also available for pre-order.

Game Pass subscribers on Xbox get the game included from day one, which softens the sting of the $69.99 standard price if you're already subscribed. No UK or European euro pricing has been confirmed yet — check the Steam store page for the most current regional figures.

What to watch

Team Ninja moved fast: the game was announced at the Xbox Showcase in June 2026 and had a playable alpha out by September. That pace is unusual, and the demo's scope — co-op, character creation, a named story stage — suggests the core mechanics are already solid. March 2027 is a crowded release window, but a Game Pass safety net and a no-cost demo make this easy to evaluate without spending anything upfront.
